The Marquee and Lasso tools
Photoshop has a number of tools to help us make selections in order to draw, paint, mask objects, and make changes to isolated areas and images. We're gonna use a number of different tools to create this illustration using the image as a template. Some of the most common selection tools are the Marquee tools, as well as the Lasso and Selection Brush tool. I'll tap M in order to select the Marquee tool, and then I'll right click just to reset the tool. On Mac, you can control click in order to reset it. Now, as I start dragging out the marquee tool, it drags out from the upper left corner. But if I want it to drag out from the center, I can hold down the Option key on Mac or the Alt key on Windows. If I wanted to constrain it to a square, I can hold down the Shift key. And while I still have the mouse down, if I want to change the point of origin, I can hold down the space bar in order to reposition it. Then I can release the space bar and then continue dragging.
