- With this single key light, I've got a good amount of illumination on me. You can see me because the light is shining from above, there's a chance that I could have overblown highlights on my forehead and on the top of my nose. That's not happening because of a combination of exposure settings in the camera a modifier on the light and powder that has been put on my face. So in terms of highlights, you could consider this good lighting. Anything in the path of a light will cast a shadow and I'm doing that right now. My nose and chin and head, they're all casting shadows on to other parts of me. Now there's not inherently wrong with that. Right now, there are no details that I want you to see that are being lost in the shadows over here but these shadows to create a particular mood. This scene is a little more intense and a little more dramatic because of these shadows. What's interesting, is that the shadows don't have any inherent emotional quality to them.
