- [Instructor] Let's get to work converting this image. I've noticed that with any type of image editing, I tend to use one of two different strategies. I either look at the image for a while, make some decisions about it, strategize a plan, and then carry out that plan. Or I just start and I feel my way through the image, making adjustments as they are needed based on other adjustments that I've made. I can't tell you why I choose one strategy over another. It just seems to work out the way that it needs to. For this image, I feel like I got to think about what this needs before I can get started. And what this needs is a solution to this problem of all of the tones being grouped together in one place. Let me show you what I mean. Right now with color, I can see a bit of separation between the foreground and background because they're different colors. But when I go to black and white, the cat's pretty much just lost in this.
