Hopefully, you love everyone you work with, but occasionally, you might have a rival. We all know obsessing about a rival at work isn't healthy, but thinking about your rivals in the right way can actually be a spur to growth. Here's how. First, your rivals can provide a useful clue for you about where you want to develop. If they keep getting lauded for their public speaking and you resent it, maybe that's actually a sign that you should double down on your own presentation skills. Second, rivals can teach you what you value the most. Your rival probably triggers feelings in you. For instance, you might feel you earned your credentials the hard way and he got handed his position without any real effort.
