If you have a lot of experience or credentials, it's usually not that hard to get people to listen to your point of view. But what if you don't really have authority? How do you get people to listen to you and take you seriously? Here are three strategies you can apply to make sure your ideas get heard. First, you can borrow other people's expertise by citing recognized experts in those fields. For one thing, it shows that you understand the key topics of discussion in your field, and knowing their research helps back up your argument. Next, identify what you have in common with the people you're trying to connect with. Research shows that the fastest way to get someone to like you is to find a commonality because it makes them more open to hearing from you and listening to your perspective.
