The attributes of strong peer coaches
- Great peer coaching comes down to more than what coaches do. It's also about how they do it. They have a particular mindset and demeanor that contribute to their success. The good news, you can work toward adopting these attributes to enhance your effectiveness without changing who you are at the core. First of all, strong coaches are emotionally intelligent. They're self-aware; understanding their strengths and weaknesses, but also how their temperaments and belief systems affect others. They recognize how their emotions can influence their interactions, and they work hard to manage them. They know how to read the room. Even better, they can pivot and make real time adjustments to improve their impact. In the peer coaching environment, that can be particularly powerful.
