- I'd like to introduce you to a model that worked really well for me when I was CLO. It helped me advance the technology and data systems. I call it the skills engine. Before we get into the details, grab the skills engine in the exercise files, jot down notes as we go, including any questions that pop to mind as you think about your tech ecosystem. The skills engine in your company will be fueled by three critical elements: future-focused people strategies, skills activation, and dynamic insights. Okay, let's look at the first part of the model, Future-focused people strategies. These include the strategies, program and tech your company uses to manage the people side of the company. It includes things like people data and analytics, operating models and design of work, talent mix and strategic workforce plans, talent marketplace, leadership and culture, performance and total rewards, and learning and development.
