From the course: Open to Work: Building Key Career Skills in the Age of AI

In it together

We're in a battle of belief right now. Right now, if we all sort of lock in with fear and believe that we're going to see all sorts of bad, it's more likely all sorts of bad is going to happen. I still think at the other end of that, the inevitability is that we get to better work, but we're going to go through a lot more disruption than we need to in our own lives, in our own careers, or as companies or as societies, if we just believe that that's inevitable. The opportunities right now that are opening up are hiding in plain sight. This isn't about do you know the latest tool, this isn't about are you ready to answer the next question that your boss asks you about AI and how you're using it. It's really a question of do you believe in yourself? And if you can answer yes to that question, everything else is going to be easy. Being human is now our competitive advantage and being human together, building on one and other's ideas and innovations, that's our superpower. Some will wait for permission or perfect clarity, but in times like this, standing still actually means you're falling behind. You've learned here how to articulate your unique value, to connect with others who are learning as well, and most importantly, that the future of work isn't something that happens to you. It's something you will create for yourself. And if you want to dive deeper, we hope you'll check out our new book, Open to Work, How to Get Ahead in the Age of AI. Now the real opportunity begins to take what you've learned, lead others forward, and help build a world of work that works better for everyone.
