Open RAN deployment scenarios
(upbeat music) - [Instructor] Now, let's dive into different deployment scenarios for Open RAN. To begin with, let's picture the network architecture we know typically within about 20 kilometers of cell site, we place an edge cloud. Beyond that, within roughly 200 kilometers, we have a regional cloud. These two layers of cloud infrastructure gives us flexibility in deciding where to host different functions in Open RAN. We have different scenarios for that, starting with scenario A, where the RU stays at the cell site, while DU and CU are deployed at the edge cloud. The near real-time rig here in this case also sits at the edge location. This scenario is best fit for low latency services like gaming, virtual reality, or mission-critical applications. There's a scenario B, where both DU and CU are moved to the edge cloud, but the near real-time rig is hosted at the regional cloud.
