Fire suppression systems that are hazardous to people

- In today's world of electronics and sensitive electronic equipment, it's not uncommon for a facility to utilize special fire suppression systems that use a gas that won't harm the equipment in a room. I've seen this used in everything from large data centers to smaller rooms in an office facility that house servers or rooms used as control centers. These are all examples of spaces that may house critical equipment that needs to be kept running and that could be damaged by standard water or chemical-based fire extinguishers. Obviously, a fire in these spaces which might occur due to electrical problems would be devastating, but they also don't want a small fire to trigger a flood of water from a traditional fire sprinkler system because that might do more damage to the equipment than the fire. Spaces like these may utilize a gas fire suppression system that discharges something like Halotron or CO2, which is meant to displace all of the oxygen in the room, depriving the fire of one…
