First of all, use a service. You want to sign up for an email service like Mailchimp, VerticalResponse, Constant Contact, and many other options. Why? Because these guys make sure your emails are delivered. They stay up with all of the major email providers like Google and Yahoo and AOL and all the rest of them and make sure that emails that come from these services are not primarily caught by a spam filter. It gets past those and gets into the inboxes. If you're dumping a pile of email addresses into an email you send from your email account, they're probably going to spam.
