Six tips for improving website accessibility
- As previously discussed, website accessibility is very important these days. Much of the accessibility issues will need to be addressed by your web developer. However, as you enter content on your website, there are things that you can do to improve your website's accessibility. The University of Minnesota has done an amazing job of outlining these improvements, and I encourage you to go there for more information. However, here's a quick summary. You can read more at accessibility.umn.edu. First of all, headings. Just as you use headings in Microsoft Word, use them in your webpages to provide quick navigation to those using screen readers. Start your article with either an H1 or an H2. Check with your developer about which is right for your site. Subheadings simply get a smaller number.
