- [Instructor] In this section and the next few sections, we'll take a look at how GitLab fits into the DevOps picture. We'll use GitLab as a tool to illustrate these practices and features that we can actually implement into our development environment today, and how they can help us enforce the DevOps principles and practices. Let's start with the GitLab fundamentals. GitLab describes itself as the DevOps platform that empowers organization to maximize the overall return on software development by delivering software faster and more efficient while strengthening security and compliance. To me, the biggest difference between GitLab and other platforms is its integration of a source control system, as well as a CI/CD engine into the same platform.
