- When people think of job searching, their first thought usually goes to the traditional job hunting process, finding job openings and submitting applications. While that should certainly be a part of the job hunt strategy, there's another valuable technique that's extremely underutilized, working with headhunters. If you're not familiar, a headhunter is essentially an independent recruiter. They work for headhunting firms, or more commonly known as recruiting agencies that are contracted by companies to fill certain roles. Now, this is different from a traditional recruiter who's usually someone who is employed full-time by one company and is filling a variety of roles within that same company.
