How to build a support system
- Let's talk about something that most high performers secretly struggle with: asking for help. I know what that voice in your head says, "I should be able to handle this. I don't want to seem needy." Or, "What if no one shows up to support me?" But here's what I've learned after coaching hundreds of clients across the globe. Even the strongest leaders need support, and the smartest ones ask for it. So how do you build a support network when asking feels uncomfortable? I want you to try this framework I use with clients on what I call "making your empowered ask." Number one, be specific. Vague requests don't get results. Be ready with specifics and ask for exactly what you need. Number two, be real. Let people know what season you're in. That honesty creates clarity and connection. Number three, be open to receiving. Practicing "thank you" without deflecting or explaining or diminishing the support the other person has offered you. Just say "thank you." Remember, you don't need to go at it alone. In fact, you never were meant to. So embrace support. You can do this. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
