Making it easy for people to engage
- Do you ever read amazing posts on LinkedIn but then have no clue what to comment under those posts? This actually happens a lot more than you think, and it's because the post itself doesn't command enough authority for you to stay and engage. The simplest way to add more authority to your posts is to add a PS with a question. Invite your audience to actually engage with you. The key to a great PS question, don't make them think too hard about what to comment. There's a really great book called "Don't Make Me Think," and it explains certain principles of human intuition and our behavior in the online world, where we need to make it super easy for others to consume our words and content. The three best ways to do this for your LinkedIn posts, ask questions that require a quick answer. For example, what's your favorite way to unwind after a long day of work? See, instant answer? Number two, ask yes or no questions. For example, do you prefer text only or video content? Again, instant answer. And number three, ask for numbers or figures. For example, how many comments do you leave per day? When you ask a question in the PS of your posts, your audience will have an invitation to engage with you, and when you don't, they won't, as simple as that.
