Building trust in the DMs (and avoiding "pushy" selling)

- The more authority you build on LinkedIn, the more prospects you'll get in your DMs- but research shows us that at least 50% of all prospects are not the right fit, so how can you know this before you ever sell to them or get on a call? There's one thing I learned from a mentor years ago, and it is: always ask for permission from your prospects before you engage in a sales conversation. This goes for DMs, emails, and calls. This is called permission based selling, and it is proven that by asking for permission first, you increase your chances of getting a positive response and you'll also sound less pushy, which is always a bonus. That positive response is a signal that they're interested and that they might be the right fit for you. Instead of jumping straight into your pitch because you feel like your LinkedIn authority gives you the right to do so, try this: "Mind if I tell you more about this project?" "Can I send you a quick voice note?" "Would it be okay to meet for 10 minutes?" It is a super easy way to make sure that your LinkedIn efforts are not going to waste and that almost every prospect conversation that you have leads to a positive outcome.
