Creating happy conversations

- We know from research that people really enjoy talking about themselves because, quite simply, it feels good. Self disclosure triggers the brain's mesolimbic dopamine reward pathway and delivers a really powerful neurological buzz. So if you're speaking with someone else, encourage them to share about themselves by asking them questions. You're also giving them the opportunity to enjoy these feel-good chemicals, plus you're demonstrating that you're interested and you genuinely care. And if you ever find yourself struggling to know what to say, be curious and look for areas of mutual interest, and then explore these. To keep the conversation going, some great phrases to remember are, "So what you're saying is," "What I understand is that," "That's interesting, could you tell me more?"
