Writing effective email subject lines
- Even though many tools have come out trying to replace email, email still remains a key communication tool for many organizations, whether you're communicating internally with employees or externally with customers and partners. In fact, studies have shown that the average office worker receives more than 100 emails per day. On top of that, they're also sending out a few dozen too. How do we break through the noise? Here are three tips to ensure that you can write an effective subject line that gets your email open. Including action or description at the start to help recipients prioritize their inbox. For example, "Time-sensitive" or "Urgent." "Action needed by April 3rd." Or "FYI, no action needed." Be concise and direct. Getting to the point when everyone is so busy will be appreciated. Always include a subject line. Even if it's a quick follow up or you're just dropping in to say hi, including the subject line will help the recipient keep track of your email and it will make your email look less like spam.
