Installing MySQL on a Mac
- [Bill] Hi, I am Bill Wyman. In this lesson, we'll install the MySQL server on a Mac, running macOS. This computer is running macOS Sonoma version 14.1.2, the latest version as of the date of this recording. This installation process should be the same on any modern version of macOS. First, we'll bring up the system preferences to confirm that we're not already running the MySQL Server before continuing. Come over here to the search box and I'll simply type mysql, no results. And that means that we are not already running the MySQL server. So, back over here in our browser, I'm running Google Chrome on this machine. And I'll navigate to dev.mysql.com/downloads. That's D-E-V.mysql.com/downloads. So, I have that here in the URL bar. And I'm going to click on the MySQL Community Server. That's the free version of MySQL server and that's the one that we want for this course. So, I'll click on that and you see it brings up the general availability releases. This is what we want. The…
