- Now option number four when you're choosing your management style for remote workers is something I've called developing/testing. It has two completely separate times when you might use it. One is when you're developing someone and the other one is when you're testing a new person. So for example, you might have an external unknown person. This happened to me recently, they got me in to do a talk. I was going to do a talk for a large group of people in India over Zoom. And they said to me, we're going to delegate the design of the talk to you. We want you to give a talk on a particular subject, you design the talk, but we want to have a look at it before you give the talk. And I remember thinking, don't you trust me? Don't you know who I am? But of course they didn't know who I was. And they'd seen me somewhere on YouTube and thought I could probably do a good talk, but looking back, I think it was absolutely reasonable…
