Naming and organizing layers

- [Instructor] Before we move to After Effects, it's a good idea to get things a bit more organized. I have a few strategies that I think are pretty important. First, in Photoshop, make sure that your layers are named. You could do this by double-clicking on a layer and just typing in a new name. After all, untitled copy three is not as clear as brick wall or couple when you go to After Effects. Let's go ahead and switch over to After Effects for just a moment. What I'll do is choose File, Import, File and select the image and we'll select Sailor to organize and import as a composition. I'll edit this in and in this case, I don't have any layer styles so I could just merge them. Now let's open up the composition. Here, you see by naming the layers, everything is much clearer, Bush, Couple, Brick. In this case, it's difficult because there's no visual thumbnails like Photoshop.
