Using Trapcode Particular

The built-in particle system, while it works, does take a bit of tweaking and experimentation. There is a third-party particle system from Trapcode that's a bit easier to use called Particular. Let me show you. Now let's take this existing adjustment layer and turn it off. Let's add a new layer and choose Solid and we'll make it the comp size and just fill it with black. This will make it a bit easier to see. Now I'll apply the third-party filter from Trapcode called Particular. This filter's pretty easy to use and you'll see a lot of options. What we're going to do is start to adjust things here. So for the emitter, I want to create a box. This allows me to adjust what's going to happen. Let's go ahead and turn off the other layers for a moment so we just see the actual emitter.
