Forward an email to a Teams channel

If your project team primarily works on projects in Microsoft Teams, this is likely where they communicate around the project too. What do you do if you receive an email that you want to share with your project team members? Lucky for you, each team channel has an assigned email address so you can send it through to a team channel as a new conversation. Let's check it out. First, you're going to want to start by going to the team channel, where you want to get that email address for. That happens to be this planning channel here. When you hover over the channel, select the ellipses, that's more options, and then select Get email address. Here it is right here in this field. We can copy it to the clipboard. But before we do, I want to point out something in the advanced settings area. So let's expand that. And notice that this is set to only members of this team can use this email address to send those communications through as a new post within the channel. The default setting for this is anyone can send emails to this address. So this has already been changed for this channel. And if you have guests that are part of your team, and maybe you don't want those external guests to be able to use this email address and send those messages in, that would be a scenario where you may want to make this change. All right. Let's go ahead and save this. Let's go back to that get email address once more so that we can copy this to the clipboard. And now we're going to switch over to Outlook. And here's the email that I want to forward to the planning channel. So I've already started a forward for this. And up here I have the message included that I want to be part of that as well. So in the to field here, let's go ahead and use Ctrl + V to paste that in. It does recognize this as an email address. And let's go ahead and send this. Now let's go back on over to Teams. And now here we are in the planning channel. And notice what just arrived. So this is how a new conversation or a post will look here within the planning channel when you have an email that's coming through. It will include any images that might be embedded within that message and all of the content. And it has a link here to view the original message back in Outlook. That's how you can forward an email to a team channel.
