- [Instructor] The most common tool used to administer SQL Server is called SQL Server Management Studio. In previous versions of SQL Server, that tool was installed automatically when you install the SQL Server Database Engine. This behavior has been changed in SQL Server 2016, and now SQL Server Management Studio needs to be downloaded and installed separately from the Database Engine. You probably could go to your favorite search engine, and search for keywords like management studio download, or management studio install, and be led to the page where you can download, but from SQL Server Installation Center, we can click on install SQL Server Management Tools, and that will open up a webpage from the Microsoft website titled Download SQL Server Management Studio, abbreviated SSMS, and in the middle of the page there's a link for download SQL Server Management Studio.
