- [Instructor] In this section, we're going to talk about dynamic data masking, which is a new technology in SQL Server 2016. It allows up to hide some of the details of sensitive information from some of our users. First we'll need to create a table and add some sensitive information to it. I've staged some code to do this for you. So if you want to go over to your exercise files and copy all of that data to a new query window. So this is going to create a table called membership. It'll have one field called full name that will not be masked. Then we'll create a field called age that will be masked with a function called default and email which will be masked with a function called email. Both of those functions, default and email, are built-in functions. We'll then insert three rows of data. So when we execute this, we get three messages saying one row affected.
