Identify when a gateway is required
- [Instructor] In this sub lesson, we're going to can identify when a gateway is required. So first off, what is a gateway? The on-premise data gateway acts as a bridge to provide quick and secure data transfer between on-premise data, i.e., data that's not in the cloud, and several Microsoft cloud services such as Power BI, PowerApps, and Power Automate. By using a gateway, organizations can keep databases and other data sources on their on-premise networks, yet securely use that on-premise data in cloud services. And here's a diagram on how the gateway works. It is installed and then is able to pull data from on-premise data sources and move it up into the cloud sources on an as needed basis. There are three different types of gateways. There's an on-premise data gateway, which allows multiple users to connect to multiple on-premise data sources.
