Define and create sensitivity labels for items and containers

Before jumping into creating sensitivity labels, it's really crucial to plan it out. These labels should mirror your organization's data classification scheme, which we spoke about earlier. Most companies have a tiered classification, so for example, public, then internal, then confidential, then highly confidential. You may use different words in your organization. And we want the sensitivity labels to correspond directly to those tiers. And there's a few important reasons for this. Firstly, it ensures consistency. And you don't want to confuse your users if you call it internal only, but call it maybe private somewhere else. It is going to confuse your users. Secondly, it's important that the labels match phrases from your policies or past training. So again, if your policy says restricted instead of confidential, you should use the word restricted because familiarity will help users choose the right label.
