- [Instructor] Way back in module one we talked about the consumption-based model and one of the things I said is that you should make sure that you aren't paying for more than you need when you're in the cloud. Controlling costs in the cloud might not be as simple as you think. So let's talk about the factors that can impact the cost of your Azure resources. The first factor that can affect costs is meters. Many Azure resources are build according to meters. Remember when we talked about blob storage tiers, the hot, the cool, and the archived here, and I told you that you pay for storing data and for access of data. Blob storage actually has two meters that can impact costs. You pay for operations like copying files, renaming files, and so on that you perform against storage and you also pay a per gigabyte charge for data transfer.
