Microsoft Azure Essentials Professional Certificate: Introduction

Hello, welcome to Microsoft Azure Essentials. My name is Jim Cheshire, and I'll be your guide through this course as you learn all about Microsoft Azure. In my day job, I'm a Director of Supportability at Microsoft, and my job covers several different Azure services. I'm also the author of the book, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, AZ-900 Exam Ref by Microsoft Press, and I have several video training courses available through Microsoft Press and here on LinkedIn. My goal in this course is to not only introduce you to Microsoft Azure, but also to ground you in some of the core concepts that you need to understand in any cloud environment. We'll start off by looking at a big-picture introduction to the cloud. We'll include a little history of the cloud, and then we'll cover some of the benefits and terms you'll need to grasp as you dive into cloud computing. We'll then go a little bit deeper and learn about cloud service categories and deployment models, including why you might choose different models in the cloud. We'll tie all of these concepts into the specifics of Microsoft Azure, and we'll talk about how Azure was designed to support these key elements. After that, we'll start our journey into what Microsoft Azure offers, beginning with a tour of the Azure Portal, your web-based tool for creating and managing your Azure resources. We'll learn all about different Azure resource types, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and managed services that can make your cloud experience a much easier one. We'll then journey further into Azure and discover how storage works, and we'll look at different options available to you for hosting applications, including hosting your your applications in a serverless environment. We'll talk about networking in Azure, and I'll explain it in clear terms so that you can understand the different networking components and how they work. We'll also cover some of the data and artificial intelligence services that Azure has to offer. Moving on, we'll talk about how to monitor your Azure services. We'll cover security concepts, And we'll talk about governance in Azure and how Azure services can help you to ensure that your Azure resources are configured the way you want them to be. We'll also learn about costs in Azure, and we'll talk about how you can ensure you don't spend more than you need to when you adopt the cloud. We'll wrap everything up with a demo that incorporates much of what you've learned about Azure in a real world example, and we'll talk about where you might go next in your learning journey. So yeah, that's a lot to cover, but it's going to be fun. I hope you're ready to learn all about cloud computing and Microsoft Azure. Let's get started.
