- Welcome back. This is lesson 3.3, Implement an online migration strategy. So in the last video, we defined offline versus online migration at a high level. In this video, we'll focus on an online migration and talk about some of the pros and cons of an online migration. And let's begin with some of the benefits. With an online migration, source and target, both remain online with the source being active, operational, and accessible. Applications such as the database and applications remain online and available, and this really minimizes downtime. This is critical if you have an SLA to meet. Little to no downtime keeps customers happy and it's cost effective. It's also fast and more flexible, meaning online migrations can be faster, more flexible, and more cost effective, as it doesn't require shutting down or disconnecting any systems.
