Virtual machines overview
- [Instructor] Azure Virtual Machines or VMs are fundamental service used by many companies to run their applications and workloads in the cloud. In this lecture, we'll have a brief overview of how they work in Azure. So here, virtual machines are built on top of Azure Virtual Networks, and this facilitates easier integration into existing IT environment, particularly in hybrid setups that combine on-premise and cloud resources. This integration allows businesses to extend their network seamlessly at maintaining consistent management and security policies across environments. Azure VM support multiple operating systems and versions including various distributions of Linux and all supporter versions of Windows. This flexibility makes them an ideal solution for lift and shift strategies, where companies just want to move their existing applications to the cloud without significant changes, as well as for running legacy systems that require specific OS requirements.
