Create and manage channels

Channels are a key feature in Microsoft Teams. They are a dedicated section within Teams that allows you to organize conversations by topics, projects, disciplines, or whatever you find works best for your team. You can have multiple channels within a team. The limit here is up to 1,000 channels per team over the life of the team, and the total includes channels that have been deleted. Deleted channels can typically be restored for up to 30 days, and during that restore window, they still count towards a 1,000 channel limit. Historically, within that total, you could have up to 30 private channels per team. But Microsoft has been rolling out enhanced private channel capabilities that that increase private channel scalability. So in many tenants, private channels can grow up to the same overall 1000 channels per team limit.
