- Let's look at the first lesson, Implement Policies and Rules in Defender for Office 365. Now implementing policies in Defender for Office 365 has become easier because Microsoft has introduced something called preset security policies. So preset security policies allow you to apply protection features to users based on Microsoft recommended settings. Unlike custom policies that are infinitely configurable, virtually all of these settings in pre-security policies are not configured configurable because those are preset by Microsoft based on their recommendations, and these configurable preset security policies are based on Microsoft observations in the data centers.
