Smart extrude
- [Instructor] MAYA 2026 has a new way to extrude and that's called smart extrude. And it's a very interactive way to extrude and I kind of like it, it's really fun. It reminds me a lot of SketchUp's push/pull tool. So we can find this under edit mesh, smart extrude. So I'm going to go ahead and right click, go into face. Now, smart extrude only works on faces, so let's go ahead and select these two faces, go edit mesh, smart extrude. And you see we get a kind of a simplified menu and we can actually extrude. Now notice how this is actually taking away detail. So if I select this and do that, I get an extrude. I select just this one and do another smart extrude. Now let me show you a little shortcut here. If you hold down your space bar, recent commands, smart extrude, or you can just hit the letter G to redo the previous command. So if I do G, I'm going to extrude again. Now watch what happens when I get to the bottom, it actually takes that away. So it's actually subtracting that…
