Lattice deformers
- [Instructor] Another way to modify meshes is to use deformers. Now, Maya has a lot of different deformers, but let's start off by taking a look at the Lattice deformer. So here I have a basic arm, and I'm going to select that and I make sure I'm in my Modeling tool set, and then go to Deform. And you can see just by the size of this menu that we do have a lot of different deformers that we can use in Maya. Now, the one I want to find is the Lattice deformer. And if we go over here, we can go to the tool options. And so here's my Lattice Options, and by default, it might be a little bit different than what you see here, but what I want is I want 5 along the x-axis, which is the length of the arm, and then 2 along the other axes. So basically, this is the number of divisions of the lattice I'm going to place around this object. So let's go ahead and select Create. And when I do, I get this lattice.
