Combine and separate

- [Instructor] When we model objects, sometimes we'll get multiple surfaces and sometimes we'll want to combine those surfaces so that we have a single object. And we can do that in Maya using what's called combine and separate. Now here I have a spaceship. Now if I wanted to, I could tie it all together in a hierarchy. I could, for example, take these legs and middle click and drag and bring them into the spaceship. So they're actually a child of that. But another way to do that is to do what's called combine and separate. Now this makes it all one object to Maya, and it kind of makes it a little bit easier to manage when you don't need to have the benefits of a hierarchy. So I have this separate object here, and if I want, I could start doing what's called combine and separate. So let's say I have all of these objects here. This is the legs of the spaceship. So I'm going to shift select or marquee select them. And you see we have them all selected in the outliner. Now under mesh we…
