Basic lighting
- [Instructor] In order to render in Maya, we do need light. So let's take a look at some of the basics of lighting in Maya. So we're going to create a simple light, and we can do that under the Create menu. We have Create, Lights, and we have a number of lights here. We also have Arnold lights. So if I go over to the Arnold tab here, you'll see we also have some lights. And then if we want, we can also use the rendering shelf, and so we have some of the basic lights here. So I'm going to go ahead and create a spotlight, and it's this icon here. And when I do it brings it into the scene. So all I have to do is move it and position it. So I'm going to go ahead and rotate this down along the X axis, somewhere around 45 degrees. And then, make sure I'm in Object mode and then move it along the object's Z, or Zed, axis back a little bit. Now, we're not seeing this light in the scene and what we have to do is turn on lighting in the viewport. So we want to make sure we have Use All Lights.…
