Apply multiple materials to objects
- [Instructor] Maya allows you to assign multiple materials to a single polygonal object. And this is a great way to get a variety of surfaces on one object. So let's go ahead and assign some materials to this. Now, if I open my Hypershade, you'll see that I've got a couple of ones here that are named saucer, and we'll be using these four materials for this particular object. So to start, all I have to do is just select the object itself, right click, and add a material. So I'm going to go ahead, assign existing material, saucer body material, and that makes the whole saucer that red body color. Now, I want to start adding additional materials here, so let's go down to the legs. And all I have to do is right click, go into face mode, and I'm going to start adding faces. Now, because this is red, it's hard to see what I'm selecting, so I'm going to go into the shading menu and turn on use default material. And this allows me to select and see these a little bit better. So what I want…
