Grouping objects

- Another way to create hierarchies in Maya is to use what's called groups. Now these are basically just empty objects that hold other objects. So instead of creating hierarchies where objects are connected together, we have basically a placeholder. So let's see how this works. So let's go ahead and select these rocks. So I'm going to go ahead and go over to my outliner and then just shift, + select and select from rock 01 to rock 06. And that selects all of those rocks. Now let's say I wanted to kind of group those together. Well, we can do that by using edit, group or control + g. So when I group those look what happens. It creates this group, notice how it's a different icon, and it creates a hierarchy. So when I hit this little plus sign all of the rocks are now in that group. And I can double click on the group name and we can call it, say rock group. And now when I select that group, I select all of the rocks…
