XLOOKUP pros and cons
- As we mentioned in our last video, XLOOKUP is a great alternative to VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP because it doesn't contain many of those limitations that we spoke about earlier. For example, you aren't limited to looking up your values in one direction. You can flexibly choose between either direction in your formula as you wish. You also don't need to memorize how many columns or rows you want your lookup value to be returned. With XLOOKUP, you're in essence telling Excel to return the value in our return array as it matches the position of our lookup value in our lookup range. That makes things really simple. XLOOKUP also allows you to return a value if a match is not found, which is a great way to add a more pleasant experience whenever an error arises. Lastly, you can specify the search mode with XLOOKUP, allowing you to save processing power with really large datasets. These are all the great pros.
