What is a sales process?

- At a high level, a sales process is simply a sequence of stages, each including a set of repeatable steps that salespeople perform to convert a potential customer from being lead to a paying customer. It acts as a roadmap to keep you on track so you always know what to do next without hesitation. Now, using a mountain climber metaphor, your sales process is the map that you create that helps you take the prospect or the customer from the bottom of the mountain, all the way to the summit. You use your knowledge of the mountain to determine the measurable stages that get you from point A to point B. It's important to define those stages so that you know where you're at at any point in the "climb." For example, when you climb Mount Everest, you will first climb to base camp.
