- To advance in your early career, a good strategy is to seek further education. The question is, what type of degree and what schools are best to achieve your goals? The Gap Analysis tool used to help you identify areas for development based on your desired job. Helps to assess the degree needs by examining the multiple job descriptions in a field, you can determine if a degree is required or a preferred qualification. Let's examine how human resource specialists write degree requirements in job descriptions and what that means for your choice of further education. At the most entry level positions, they may write something like BA/BS desired or BA preferred and education beyond high school can count towards experience. This means that they'll give preference to those with a bachelor's degree and to move up in the organization, you will most likely need to obtain a bachelor's degree.
