Here's your reality check. You are going to clash with your boss sometimes. Just expect it. The real skill is knowing how to mend the relationship afterwards. Once I disagreed with an idea my manager had, and I said so diplomatically, but we still butted heads. And there was some lingering tension I could feel straining every interaction we had after that. So how did I navigate this? Well, first I addressed it head on and I brought the underlying conflict out into the open. I said, I know we didn't agree last week on the strategy and even though we still see things differently, I respect your decision and I want to make sure we are good moving forward.
