- Imagine you invited a group of people to your party, but didn't think to prepare the venue or the food. You even didn't bother to learn the names of the invitees. That would be an awkward party, right? Well, same goes for your project stakeholders. It's not enough to invite them to take part in your project. You need to carefully plan how you will engage them in the project work, and prepare them for project outcomes. A tool that I find the most helpful in planning stakeholder engagement is a stakeholder engagement assessment matrix. This matrix is used to compare current and desired engagement levels of stakeholders. Here's a common way to classify the levels of engagement. Supportive and leading are the stakeholders who fuel your project work, support and advocate for the project result. If someone is aware of the project but neither supportive or resistant, they're a neutral stakeholder. Unaware is a stakeholder who isn't unaware of the project and its goals. Resistant…
