- At Google, you might have heard of the phrase "10x thinking," at Amazon, you might have heard of "long-term thinking," and here at LinkedIn we use the phrase "dream big" to define long-term thinking with our products and certainly our platforms. Nathan, long-term thinking is a loaded, dense topic. I'm wondering how would you like to start this discussion? - When we talk about key principles to building products, I think long-term thinking is one of the most critical, critical components of that. I have seen far too many examples of the opposite of that where platform, product team, or a product team will think very myopically in terms of what do we need to build next or what should the immediate milestone be. I think in order to build the best platforms it is incredibly important for the platform product teams to think very long-term, even multi-decade abstractions, think very long-term.
