- Do you recommend any kind of breathing techniques or is that too much of a giveaway in an active negotiation if you're in a room with someone? - So I'm not an expert on breathing techniques. I know they help a lot of people. Some of them are more or less visible. And if you have some that work for you, great. What works for me best is actually acknowledging what the other person said and then asking them questions to get them to keep talking. That's the tool that works for me, but that's because of how I'm built. If you happen to be good at using breathing techniques to get you to a better place, use them. - Can we role play you using your technique? I guess I could be the other party. - Sure. - Okay. Should I start by saying something like, no, sorry, that price isn't going to work for me. - So it sounds like the price I'm proposing isn't working for you.
