- When the topic of design systems is brought up, we often assume we're referring to an artifact, a body of code, documentation, or a Sketch file. Rarely do we refer to the process, organization, decision-making, or way of thinking. A design system can be a comprehensive, repeatable, teachable, refinable program for the entire process, as well as the output of designing code. Making your design system live, grow, and last requires a significant amount of time and effort. Creating a living, breathing design system means giving it the attention and care in order for it to survive the test of time. Design systems will give us the flexibility we need for working with the unknown devices of the future. It may be a change in process, but it shouldn't be too much a difference in thinking. We need to keep experimenting and communicating, as good user experiences are the true sign of whether our products are a success. Thank you for watching.
