- [Instructor] Some applications need to display alerts for things like incoming messages or calendar reminders. So here I am working at my computer when this pops up. (computer chimes) This is a notification for a calendar reminder. Or I might see something like this. (computer beeps) An alert telling me that I just received a new email. These are all notifications. Now you can clear a notification by pointing your mouse cursor on it, then click the X that appears. And if you just click directly on a notification, it will take you to the related application. So I could click on this to go to the Calendar and see this event, but for now I'm going to leave it alone. Now, it's interesting to see that some applications behave differently. For example, some notifications will alert you even if the application is not running. So the Calendar is not running, but I still see this notification for the Calendar. But some…
