Multitask between multiple applications
- [Instructor] When you have multiple applications open and you need to switch between them, this is known as multitasking. In another video, we saw that only one application can be in the active position. On my screen, the calculator is the active application. Its window is in front of all the others, but more importantly it's the application whose menus are visible at the top. Notice the menu for the calculator. The active application has your focus. Menu commands and keyboard shortcuts only work in the application that is active. Now I can see the window for the Photos application, and if I click on that, it moves to the front of the other windows and now the Photos application is taking focus, and we're already multitasking. We're choosing which application we want to be active at any given moment, but clicking on a window is not always an option. The Dictionary application is open, but I can't see the window for…
